For the most part, everything around us is constantly changing and evolving. In this case, the skateboard industry has been modified and tweaked. Whether its a team addition or subtraction, the skate scene will never be the same, for better or worse.

After years of representation along with broken bones, Bucky Lasek has departed from Element as well as Billabong. All things come to a pass, and this is one of them. Rumors have been circulating that Nyjah Huston has made way down to Kansas City for the much anticipated 2012 Street League Series as the newest addition to the Monster Energy team. Riley Hawk made a decision to combine forces with Baker. Make sure you check out his clip in their upcoming mashup called Bake and Destroy. Greyson fletcher has also made headlines with his signing to Flip Skateboards. Theeve trucks stole Tomas Vintrto all the way out of the Czech Republic. And last but not least, Andy Roy, Greyson Fletcher, and Charlie Blair have been recruited to the one and only Shorty’s Team.

Pedro Barros has done it again. He has defended his title as the winner of the Pro-tec Pool Party Pro crown. Along with the title and bragging rights, he snagged a purse of $28,000 at the Vans Off the Wall park located in Orange, Ca. The competition was a true dogfight including Bucky Lasek who returned to the madness after falling short of the competition last year due to a broken ankle. But Pedro battled a long and hard fought duel with Rune Glifberg to secure his crown.

The Masters division was named in conjunction with an all-star line up consisting of legends such as Lance Mountain and Steve Caballero. It turned out to be more a Bones reunion with alumni scattered all around the competition with the likes of Tony Hawk and others as well. Steve Caballero was the projected winner out of this division with a recent return from an injury to snatch First place and a purse of $14,000. Tony Hawk then took 2nd place while Lance Mountain took on 3rd along with Mike McGill taking on 4th. This competition marks the first time that these legends took place in the same competition since about the early nineties. Stacy Peralta and George Powell were on board as well to witness that anticipated event.

Yeah, the wait is almost over. Its okay, just be patient. X Games Real Street will be making its highly anticipated arrival come June 5th. Its going to be better than ever with a ridiculous line up of 16 of our best street skaters. Nyjah Huston, Aaron “Jaws” Homoki, Cory Kennedy, and Dan Murphy are listed in the lineup with an abundance of other legends in the making.

Each and every skater will have a chance to compete for $50,000 along with an X Games Gold medal. All they have to do is amaze us in a minute long video, and once the videos have been previewed there will be a group of judges to decide on who is worthy of this honor during the X Games premiere on Sunday July 1st.

But as previously stated before, all 16 videos of each skater will premiere on games.com/realstreet on the Fifth of June. There is going to be a a bracket styled tourney  for all of the fan favorites making its way to the official X Games of Los Angeles. The fan favorite who receives the most votes will win a purse of Fifty Grand, along with the Gold Medal. Get Some.

With everything being said, Vox is definitely doing damage in the skate industry, from providing us with sweet skate wear, to sick skate parks to shred in. The suspense and anticipation has come to an end. Harmony and Discord is finally here to please eager onlookers and art lovers alike. This show has has been in the works for over a year, and the pieces in this exhibit definitely display that. With all the utilities and materials at hand, Pace Prints play a major role in this partaking. Shepard has been allowed to express his vivid and captivating thoughts across platforms such as metal embossed plates. Thanks to Pace Shepard has the ability to create some of the most incredible works he’s done to date.

The exhibit is in the heart of New York and was set to open May 5th through June 16th. If you’re already a fan OBEY and Shepard’s art, then you’ll love to become acquainted with this showcase. With a broad horizon of topics to relate from, Shepard digs deep into our society and points out key notes. Since the opening of May 5th, the exhibit has been flocked with tourists and admirers alike to capture a glimpse at these incredible pieces. The scenic route can be one of many things. It can be relaxing, it can be boring, or it can be the inspiration to an idea. In Greg Mike’s case, it turned out to be the driven influence behind his brand. As a kid he would take trips to New York from his home state of Connecticut, during those trips he was influenced by the edgy street art that lined the brick walls. With deep ties rooted into his art, he combines skate influence along with the fashions of the current. His pieces are somewhat abstract, and tell a story through the visuals. As a byproduct of pop art, his work stands out with troublesome characters in a mesmerizing cartoon realm.

Greg first exhibited his work in Atlanta, Miami, and San Fran under the title of “Popstars and Cokeheads”. With ecstatic reviews, the outcome of the exhibit has led the masses in suspense for Greg’s latest works and collabs in the near future. Along with his coined artsy style, he dabbles with geometric schemes to further incorporate his idea of design. An example of that styling is displayed in his recent collaboration with the one and only Benny Gold.

As time ticks away, the opportunity to strive towards your dreams slowly slips away. Benny Gold had an epiphany one day while working under an established company. He was made aware of the fact that he was on the verge of  neglecting his true desires of imaginative entitlement, with neither restrictions nor restraints. So in turn he made a decision to follow his intuition and dreams. He ditched the suit and tie for t-shirts and caps.

The sky is the limit, and Benny’s iconic plane logo symbolizes that mantra. It all began with a basic sticker that he plastered around the city. The notion behind the sticker was an old saying “Stay Gold”. He believes its a constant reminder of your beliefs and encounters that shape your personality, its what makes the individual pure and honest. Once he established the brand, he was reminded of the old saying he goes by and exerted the same influence behind his brand.

I’m sure most of us have all had that dreadful moment when your board snaps in half, or rolls into the street only to end up being run over by the first car in sight. Well there could possibly be a positive to this universal dilemma. Now we can put our broken boards to use, and for a good cause I should add. Skate Study House allows you to recycle your old skateboard accessories, and build new objects like furniture. They have a wide variety of creations to choose from. Anything from clocks to coffee tables.

Skate Study House originates in California. The company was started by skaters Pierre Andre Senizergues  and Gil Le Bon De Lapointe. Pierre continues to push designs that are created with skateboarders in mind and consist of a unique blend of fashion, durability, and quality. Gil’s design influence comes from hitting the streets in some of his favorite cities like Paris, New York, Los Angeles and Barcelona. Gil has a passion for Hybrid design and teamed up with Pierre to bring his ideas to life.

Their products are derived from their passion for design, skate culture, and california lifestyle. Hence their slogan, “Skateboard is design… Skateboard is everywhere”. All of their products are designed in California. They use your recycled decks, wheels, etc. and mix them with custom parts to bring forth their creative ideas.

If you’re aware of your surroundings, then you’ve probably seen the infamous Andre the Giant stencil lurking around, whether if its on t-shirts or plastered as a mural on a wall. The brand takes a deeper look into society and Shepard Fairey gives us his point of view on matters such as politics and propaganda.

Coming May 5th through June 16 is Shepard Fairey’s first showcase with Pace Prints. He’s also going to reveal his first pieces in handmade paper along with the biggest prints he’s done thus far. The showcase is called Harmony and Discord which features a lot of discussion and interest with our society and economy today. It consists of colossal silk prints created with collage and spray paint, along with other works such as murals alike.

With Pace prints behind him, Shepard has been enabled to created pieces on a grand scale with their equipment. This also marks the first time Shepard will release large metal plates as compositions. He goes above and beyond the standard and creates one of a kind works of art.  An example of propaganda is the exposed hidden agenda of political industrialists and their corrupt aura on our economy. A collection of pieces known as the Reagan and friends series illustrates and renders these politicians as conniving and deceiving businessmen.  A number of themes and issues are covered in this presentation such as symbols, war, peace, political influence, and of course propaganda.
